structure + geomechanics lab:

The UK Structure and Geomechanics lab, which is housed in Slone Research Building, is currently being outfitted with a number of new analytical tools, including a Leica DM2500 Polarizing Microscrope coupled with a Leica HD digital imaging system and two high-power Dell Precision 7910 Linux workstations for parallel  processing (up to 24 cores per unit) of computational models. Facilities for rock crushing and heavy mineral separation (Wilfley table and heavy liquids) for thermo- and geochronological studies are housed in the nearby Kentucky Geological Survey and Bowman Hall, respectively. The Kentucky Geological Survey, which is within walking distance of SRB, also houses the Electron Microprobe and SEM lab, both of which are key research tools for our group.
